REVISITING AND EXTENDING THE IDEA OF DOMAINS

A special Issue of Murmurations: Journal of Transformative Systemic Practice

A fully open access independent journal for the systemic practice communities

Revisiting "The Domains Paper"

This call is an invitation to write on the subject of domains.

In 1990, Peter Lang, Vernon Cronen and Martin Little wrote a paper published in volume 1 of Human Systems: Journal of Systemic Consultation and Management. It was called The Systemic Professional. Domains of Action and the Question of Neutrality. It has been a foundational paper for trainees in systemic therapy. You can download it here.

It is over 25 years since it was published. How does it still support what we are doing now? How have worlds, concepts and values changed that make for new theory? What do you have to say that critiques, uses or elaborates on the ideas in this paper?

We welcome submissions from people working across all areas of systemic practice. Please find a way of responding to the ideas in this paper through the lenses of your cultural heritage and lived experience as a systemic professional and community member.

Murmurations is a systemic practice journal. You need to show relationality, reveal who you are (in your many selves and how they are present and in play in the writing), ensure you have genuine permission to include the lives of others in your writing or media, and hold in mind the key ethic of “Nothing about us without us!”

Please read some of the papers in this journal to understand the unique contribution of this systemic practice journal.
